Federer sat down for an interview with the Fedal Media Group to talk about the ongoing season and his goals for the future.

Roger how do you feel today?
Federer: «I’m feeling good! I just came from the first training with my new coach Rolf Schmatzmann. He’s a cool guy and he appreciates my style of tennis and loves Fedal Squash. So I would say we will see what happens, but parttime he will guide me as a coach, because he understands it to push me to my limits. My shirt was completely wet after an hour today!»

What do you think about this season and how pleased are you with your performances?
Federer: «At the start of the season I was struggeling mentally. It was one of the badest times of my life and I had some days, where I just want to rest in my bad. I remember, that I was out for training with Rafa and after 10 minutes I was completely busted. That was terrible for me. And after that my whole mindset was changing. I’m very thankful for having guys like Rafa and Stan, that helped me out of my depressions and find some new motivation. From then on I’ve changed. I suffered a lot to be as fit as I am today. But in the end I’m very proud of my three Grand Slams and the way I treated myself over the last couple of months.»

How do you manage yourself to keep your body in shape?
Federer: «Well, I’ll never get the big arms and the muscles of Rafa that’s clear. But that isn’t my goal! It’s all about feeling good in my body. So I do a lot of Cycling, Jogging and Gymnastics in the last couple of months. But to be honest, that’s all. There’s no secret. I like to eat and so I haven’t done any diets or stuff like that. I just listen to my body and I like to suffer and be in shape.»

What are your goals for the next season and also the end of this one?
Federer: «I mean the finals are the big goal for this season, that’s clear! But I’m still really hungry for the big titles and the other guys are not hanging around. So that means I have to keep working and keep improving my game. My biggest goal is to win the Happy Slam in 2020, because I want this calender Grand Slam so bad. Perhaps that is the one opportunity in many years. If I arrived there we’ll see, perhaps I will skip one or two tournaments of the claycourt-season to prepare for Wimbledon. That’s clearly the tournament I love the most and I want to win it again.»

What was the most special moment this season and is there anything to say about your opponents?
Federer: «Perhaps winning Wimbledon was the most beautiful moment if you look at it tenniswhise. But I also I had two trainingcamps with Rafa. One was taking place in his academy, and one in Davos. That was good fun and it gave me so much motivation. I mean he is the biggest rival on court, but he is a great human offcourt. And also Stan is incredible as a player and as a person. It’s always good fun and sometimes I’m cheering for him, if he plays against Rafa. I mean without them it’s not the same you know. I think it means a lot to all of us to be part of this.»

Thank you for this interview and all the best for the future Roger
Federer: «Thanks for having me here. I appreciate it. See you on the court guys.»
