Before facing his Swiss countryman and recordbreaking friend Roger Federer, Stan sat down for an interview with Fedal Squash.
Press: Stan, the victory of Shanghai is now several weeks back. Please tell us how you feel.
Stan: I feel great. The victory in Shanghai was groundbreaking for me. I had been working for over 7 months to reach this goal and now it had finally worked. Although it had looked quite different in the final for a while. Of course the victory was all the better.
Press: Do you think you’ll end up taking the trophy home again?
Stan: To be honest, I don’t think so far yet.  The most important thing at the moment is to focus on the semi-finals and get the best possible preparation.
Press: And that means?
Stan: Last Monday, the first preparations started with a training with M. Wanner, Wednesday interval training, Thursday practice, Saturday cardio, Sunday practice and today final training and fine tuning with my coach M. Madry.
Press: and tomorrow?
Stan: Relax! (laughs) Seriously, I felt quite good today after the training, of course, it was not little but also not too much. Tomorrow I’m off to wellness and then I hope to be able to call up the whole thing successfully on Wednesday.
Press: Now you’re playing Roger again, what can you tell us about this encounter?
Stan: It’s not a secret that I had big problems against Roger for a long time. He’s a great champion and honestly, I’ve only won once in the last two years. On paper he is clearly the favourite and the pressure is on him. After Shanghai I know that I am back but it will be a hard fight anyway.
Press: thank you very much and succeed well
Stan: Thanks also

Update:

After Stan had to be treated on his right thigh at the beginning of the game, he could still win the first set. Unfortunately the injury didn’t get any better and Stan finally had to admit defeat in three sets.

Roger deserves to win the semi-final with a final score of 5:7 / 6:3 / 7:5
